Route Notes The two-member American team attempted peaks in the Lunag Ri range on the north and south side of the Lunag Glacier south-southwest of the Nangpa la. Since the Lunag peaks are not listed by the tourism ministry as open for climbing, the teams obtained a permit for nearby Jobo Rinjang, a peak which is open. Before they flew to Lukla to approach the Lunags, this team of Chris Wright and Geoff Unger did not know exactly which Lunag peak or peaks they would climb: they would find that out when they got into the mountains, they said. They made their BC on 13 November at 5100m on the south side of the Lunag Glacier and spent the next two weeks climbing peaks south of the Glacier while the other team of David Gottlieb and Chad Kellog were north of the glacier. On 16 November Wright and Unger scaled a 5777m peak close to their BC. On the 20th, Unger climbed to the top of Pt 5855m and back to BC the same day while Wright was not well. On the 26th, after strong wind abated, the two Americans attacked a peak 6589 meters high; they bivouacked at 6160m on its NE Face of snow and ice after having spent three hours digging a platform for their small tent, Unger's feet were getting seriously cold, so they rappelled down to BC at 5100m on the 27th and left on the 29th.
