Route Notes BC at 4900m at Lobuche Glacier C1 at 5400m on East Face C2 at 5700m on East Face. Entirely alpine-style climb above C2 (i.e., no fixed ropes). Summit party left summit 12:50 pm and cleared mountain as they descended to BC, which reached 5:00 pm. BC to C2 600m fixed ropes. No other summit bid after 30th Jan because when Lee arrived on 30th Jan at BC learned mountain had been climbed (had been badly delayed getting to BC because food supplies late clearing Calcutta). Expedition left BC 31st Jan. Above C2 is 500m of much crevassed area, face is quite steep and there were difficult ice sections.
