Route Notes BC at normal site C1 at top of Icefall C2 in Western Cwm C3 on Lhotse Face. Bozic and Groselj arrived BC 15 April. Started together from C3 to Lhotse summit on 30 April. Left C3 at 12:45 am. Bozic stopped at yellow band, down to C3 to warm his freezing feet, up again to 8200m, waited there watching Groselj descend from summit. Groselj reached summit at about 2:45 pm without oxygen in very good snow conditions except no snow in couloir, very strong wind (others unable to reach C3 from C2 on other expedition), extremely cold summit covered by cloud. Descending couloir very bad; fell 10m into soft snow. Very tired; cannot remember details. Up to 7800m used fixed ropes (Yugo and US). Returned to C3 together at 8:00 pm. Next day 1 May to BC. Bozic realized Groselj was straying off route and moved to left to meet him. No Sherpas above C3 for Lhotse.
