Route Notes Jon Gupta and Tim Howell were attempting a wingsuit jump off of Lhotse South Face at 8300m that was abandoned due bad weather. Report from Jon Gupta: Approach: Pangboche Route: West Face (new route) BC 28/04 5350m C1 02/05 6000m C2 04/05 6440m C3.5 17/05 7700m right of Yellow Band at same level HPt 21/05 8350m by Gupta and Seccombe at 3 pm. On 17/05 Gupta, Seccombe and Hood reached C3.5. On 18/05, they fixed rope to 8250m to the top of the couloirs (straight out of camp and slightly towards the right) and returned to C3.5 where they rested for a few days. On 20/05, Howell, Hood and Holland arrived at C3.5. On 21/05, Gupta and Seccombe left camp at 2 am, and Howell, Hood and Holland left at 6am. Howell, Holland and Hood stopped at the top of the couloirs at about 8250m while Gupta and Seccombe continued to the high point (see attached photo). They reached the high point at 3 pm. They waited for the weather to improve until about 4.30pm and decided to call off the planned wingsuit flight due to bad weather (too much cloud to jump). They descended to C2 where they arrived 10:30 pm. Back at BC 22/05. Left BC on 23/05. Sherpas above BC: 6 Fixed rope: 200m out of the col; 1200 to 1400m from C3.5 to the Col (Sherpas fixed) Oxygen: Taken and used from the Bergschrund at about 6700m by all members and Sherpas.
