| Route Notes | Approach: Pangboche, Lobuje, Everest BC BC 06/04 5350m C1 23/04 6000m C2 25/04 6440m C3 08/05 7100m C4 22/05 7900m Smt 23/05 by Jelly, Ott, Salomon, Chewang Dorje, Pasang Rinji, Nima Chhiri, Lhakpa Chhiri, Samduk, Ang Dorje at 7:26 am, Dawa Chhiri, Heah, Pasang Bhote at 11:30 am. Summit team left C4 at 10:30 am. Cold clear night. Straightforward climb. Whole team descended to C4 where they arrived at about 11:30 am. Heah reached C4 at 6 pm. Pasang Wongchu reached to above Balcony and below South Summit, but turned back due to cold feet. Overton and Thorne reached C4 on 22/05. Overton had respiratory infection; Thorne had sore calf muscles. He tried to go to Lhotse on 24/05, however, when he reached Lhotse C4 he suffered a bad respiratory infection. He descended to C2 and was flown on on 25/05. Overton descended to C2 on 23/05. Mark Austin never attempted to summit and descended with Overton on 23/05. Schultz reached about 7000m. She was too weak to climb the mountain and was turned around. Alba never intended to go up and stayed at BC as BC doctor. Peter Lethbridge (Lhotse only) reached C2, but left the expedition early as he was too slow. Cotter never left BC as he was BC manager. Lhotse summit on 24/05 by Ott and Pemba Chhewang at 8:30 am. Ott and Pemba Chhewang left with Thorne and Sunduk at 1:30 am from the South Col. Thorne abandoned at Lhotse C4 with a respiratory infection. Ott and Pemba descended to C2 after the summit and met Everest team. Everybody back on 25/05. Flown out of C2: Thorne for respiratory infection on 25/05. Lhakpa Chhiring Sherpa for frostbite on his big toe which he contracted on the descent on 24/05. Team left BC on 26/05 walked to Namche, heli to Kathmandu on 27/05. Sherpas above BC: 15 Oxygen: Taken and used from C3 to top to C3 by members; from C4 to top to C4 by Sherpas. |
