Route Notes Ma, Dong and Mingma Gyalje reached 8450m on Lhotse on 19 May starting from Lhotse C4. At 12:07 Ang Phurba fell past them and they turned back. Ma and Mingma Gyalje stayed at C4 and continued to Everest the following day. Dong descended to C2. Irmak did not leave BC; he stayed there for the whole of the expedition. Accident: Mingma Gyalje offered to bring up fixed rope from lower down, however, the Arun Sherpas, who were fixing, said they did not need it as there was enough old rope. At about 8500m the Sherpas had run out of rope and continued toward the summit without. Ang Phurba must have slipped and fallen.
