Route Notes BC 10 Apr 5350m C1 --- 6000m C2 15 Apr 6400m C3 19 May 7200m C4 20 May 7750m Smt 21 May by Txikon at 11:45 am. After having climbed Nuptse, Chicon (Txikon) went back to C2 on 17 May. He rested for two days and climbed to Lhotse C3 on 19 May, together with Salazar and Madariaga. At C3 Salazar was worried about thrombosis as he had it before and Madariaga was suffering from chest pain. They both descended on 20 May. On summit day, Chicon left C4 at 2:30 am. Weather was good. He spent about 20 minutes on the summit and descended to C4, where he arrived at 2 pm. He rested there for a while and carried on to C2, where he arrived at 7 pm. BC on 22 May. Tamayo reached C2 on 15 April. He was also intending to climb Nuptse with Chicon. However, on 14 May he woke up at BC with a swollen knee and the doctors at HRA clinic diagnosed him with a torn meniscus. He was flown out of BC on 15 May. After his climb, Chicon, Ferran La Torre and Jorge Egocheaga from another team took a helicopter to Dhaulagiri I to rescue their friend Juanjo Garra, who had broken a leg and was lying at 7700m. Egocheaga reached Garra, but unfortunately too late. He died 25 minutes after Egocheaga's arrival. Oxygen: Not taken, not used
