Route Notes C4 below couloir at the Turtle on West Face. The small team of intended summiters put all three of its members with two Sherpas on the top. Coster, Graeffe and McDonald along with Ang Dorje and Nawang Nuri, left C4 at midnight of 19/20 May and were on the summit at 9:00 am of the 20th. In their descent, Graeffe and McDonald went down to C2, where they arrived at 4:30 pm on summit day and were in BC the next day. Coster, however, stopped in C3 to help a member of his Everest expedition, Richard Maybank, whose crampons had been taken from outside his tent, making it difficult for him to descend without them. All members and Sherpa summiters used oxygen from C3 to the summit to C2. Also on the mountain were seven members of a training group. They had no permission to go to the summit and did not do so. One trainee, Ms. Maryana Plesh, did not go above BC and left two days after they had arrived. The others got to various altitudes above C2's 6400m. Sherpas: Ang Dorje, 8/9/85, Patle, Okhaldhunga, Lhotse X1 Nawang Nuri, 15/5/79 (1/2/2036), Patle, Okhaldhunga, no 8000ers
