Route Notes C3 on West Face C4 on West Face. The two members, Ryan Waters and Ms. Sophie Denis, arrived at Lhotse separately. Waters got there first: he arrived in Kathmandu in late March to lead a trekking group to Everest BC and stayed in Khumbu after his clients left. Denis first climbed Cho Oyu with a Field Touring expedition led by Ben Kane. She acclimatized rapidly, summited Cho Oyu on 5 May, returned to Kathmandu by road on the 8th, and flew to Lukla on the 10th. She met Waters at BC on 12 May in time for their joint summit push. Waters had been climbing Lhotse by the time Denis arrived and had pitched the usual series of higher camps. He and Lhakpa Dorje had carried loads all the way to C3, then descended to BC on the 12th to meet Sophie there. The three of them went up to C2 on the 16th to C3 on the 17th and made C4 on the 18th. On 19th May the three climbers left C4 at 4:00 am and got to the summit that afternoon; Lhakpa Dorje at 2:40, Denis at 2:50 and Waters at 3:50 pm. They descended to C3 in the dark at 9:00 pm. The next day the two members stopped in C2 while Lhakpa Dorje continued down to BC. The members joined him on the 21st. All of them used oxygen from C4 to the top to C3.
