Route Notes This Lhotse party was attached to IMG's big Everest expedition led by Mike Hamill, and the camps to and including C3, Sherpas, and logistics were the same for both parties. There was no leader designated for Lhotse. The team was reduced to a single member, Mancinelli, by the time the summit was attacked. Tsuzuki climbed up to C3 on 4 May, but went down to C2 the same day and continued down to BC on the 5th because of an inner ear problem which caused her to lose her balance. She left the team on the 8th. Mancinelli, Chewang Lendu and Gyalzen Dorje left C3 on the joint Everest-Lhotse route on 22 May and pitched their Lhotse C4 that day. At 0:30 am on the 23rd they left for the top and arrived there at 10:15 am. They descended to C2, which they reached at 4:00 pm. Mancinelli used oxygen in C3 to the summit and down to (but not in) C2. The two Sherpas use it from C4 to the top to C4.
