Route Notes BC on Khumbu Glacier C1 above the Icefall C2 in Western Cwm C3 on Lhotse West Face C4 on Lhotse West Face below the colouir. Smith and Pemba Tshering left C4 at 2 am on 21 May, reached summit at 8:30 am. Time spent on summit 45 minutes, then descended to C4 at 11:30 am. Had a rest for two hours, then to C2 at 5:30 pm and spent night there. Next day to BC. Other summiters on that day were Dawa Steven, Palden, Nima and David Liano. Excellent weather, low wind, thin clouds. Smith returned Kathmandu on 26th leaving 29th. Cross and Palden Namgyal left C4 at 3 am on 25 May, reached summit at 11:30 am. Time spent on summit between 30 to 45 minutes. Descended to C4 between 2:30-3:00 pm. Left C4 at 4 pm for C2 where they arrived at 8 pm. Next day to BC. Weather was windy at the beginning, otherwise beautiful. Other summiters on that day were climbers from DCXP and 3 Sherpas. Cross returned Kathmandu on 31 May and will leave on 5 June. He plans to come for Ama Dablam, Cho Oyu + Xixabangma in Nov.
