Route Notes Indian Air Force Mt. Lhotse Expedition 2007 Dahiya, Jaikishan, Melur Rahman and Panda reached C3 on 29 May. Sherpas told the members that they would come from C2 to C3 and go together to C4 on 30 May to summit on 31 May. Sherpas were supposed to leave C2 around 6 am, but Sherpas did not move from C2 until 8 am of 30 May saying that there is strong wind above C3. Time was running and the members at C3 were ready to move long ago. As there were no signs of Sherpas moving out of their tents at C2, leader Tripathi decided to call off the climb and asked Sherpas to go to get down gear from C4 and the expedition was cancelled. Then C2 Sherpas went to C4, dismantled, and came down to C2 at 2:30 pm. Next day to BC. Bahl to C1 on 17 May; supposed to be in second team Choudhry to C2 on 23 May and back to C2; had bad cough Nizamuddin to 5900m, support team Pal to 5900m; left BC on 17 May and Kathmandu on 20 May as his mother passed away Rawat to 5900m, support team Saini to C2 on 25 May Ajit Singh to C2 on 25 May Singh Jasbir to C2 on 25 May Tripathi to C1 and BC Tyagi to 5900m; left BC on 23 May, took helicopter from Namche and 24 to Delhi as his father passed away Yendigeri to C1, support team On 15 or 16 May (leader does not remember the exact date) eleven members and three Sherpas of the Indian Lhotse expedition brought down to C1 bodies of two South Korean climbers who fell from SW Face of Everest. Next day the bodies were brought down to BC by 8 hired Sherpas of South Korean team and 3 Sherpas of the Indian team. The expedition returned to Kathmandu on May 12 and will leave on 16 or 17 May. At the beginning the expedition had eight Sherpas; later two more Sherpas were added totaling to 10 Sherpas. Sherpas who went up to C4 on 23 May. 1. It took long time to get reply. Member's name list was sent as it appears in the passport. Passport does not carry army rank. Later Delhi asked the Indian Embassy in Beijing to help expedite the permit attaching detailed list of the expedition member with ranks. The Embassy accordingly sent its request for permit and also to give required facilities to expedition. Leader Tripathi thinks that when CTMA received the request letter, it might have found the difference between the previous member list without army rank and the new one with full rank. Then the CTMA replied saying that it cannot extend required facilities to the expedition because it does not has enough time to make necessary arrangement for the Indian expedition. Then the expedition decided to go to Lhotse.
