Route Notes On 18 May Piolini left C4 at 1 am. Her Sherpa Prem Lhakpa did not go with her as he did not have the right equipment (no ice axes, old crampons). Piolini reached 8300m at 3 am but turned around as there was too much snow. That day she returned to the Italian research centre, "The Pyramid," near Lobuche. On her descent she stayed at C4 from 4 am to 8 am. She arrived at BC at 6 pm where she stayed for one hour and carried on to the Pyramid, where she arrived at 9 pm. On 28 May Piolini left the Pyramid at 5 am and ascended all the way to C3 but all her gear had disappeared from C3. She arrived there at 3 pm. She looked for her things but could not find them. She left her tent at C3 as it was broken and descended to C1 where she arrived at 7:30 pm. On her first summit attempt she saw Silvio Mondinelli and Marco Confortola at C3. They were on their way to C4 on their summit push.
