Route Notes Berardi fell down about 20m between BC/C1 at about 5600m on April 29 (evacuated from BC by helicopter on 30th to Kathmandu). Stayed one night in hospital. Next day left for Italy. Berardi was shocked and his eye sight is very weak, he may stay in hospital for two months. On May 19 Casarotto, Castagna, Confortola, Corona and Mondinelli left C4 at 04:00 hours. Casarotto, Corona and Mondinelli summited at 09:00 hours, stayed on summit about 10 minutes; there was strong wind. Corona and Mondinelli descended to BC at 21:00 hours. Casarotto descended to C3 at 13:00 hours (about). Miss Castagna suffered from cold feet at 8100m; she was without oxygen (first female member to reach 8100m without oxygen in the season). Castagna turned around to C4. Confortola had to give up at 8400m due to cold feet and back to C4. On May 20 Merelli and Quesada attempted for summit but had to turn around from 8450m due to strong wind and deep snow about two feet to C4. Summit day weather was very good, no wind, sunny, snow condition was also good. The expedition returned to Kathmandu on May 25 and leave on 27th. Zaffaroni reached up to C3 on May 3; due to work problem back home had to leave expedition early.
