| Route Notes | Avalanche at C2 on 4 May: Durga Sherpa [Tamang] injured his back (bruised), Barilla's face was cut by a rock, Bach bruised his ankle, Gautier bruised his kidney (he was passing blood), Bourdeau cut fingers and foot. Durga and Bourdeau were slightly above C1 and were hit by a wind blast (rocks hit them) caused by avalanche at 5:30 am. Barilla, Bach and Gautier were further below and caught in the avalanche and were carried down for about 50 meters. They were all able to free themselves. All 5 were picked up by helicopter on 6 May from BC. Oxygen used from 7600m (sleep from 8000m). Barlow had HAPE at BC and was helicoptered out from Lobuche on 15 April. Broili left on 24 April due to HAPE at C1. Hagge left on 20 May due to cracked rib (he had reached C2). William Thomas and Meyering left on 17 April due to fatigue. Wigderson left BC on 5 May due to lack of motivation. All 3 Sherpas are from Patle. |
