| Route Notes | C1 at deposit only C2 in Western Cwm C3 on West Face C4 below Couloir and rocks. C2 for top on 13 May in summit bid; Cho, Choi, Gu, Hwang, Jung and Oh and Phurba Zangbu. Slept at C3 that night and next am, all to summit: left C4 at 1:00 am and reached top 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm (at 12:00 pm Oh: 1:00 pm Choi, Gu, Phurba Zangbu; 2:00 pm Hwang, Cho and Jung). Down to C4 except Oh and Sherpa to C2. 16th Gu to BC, others in C2. All in BC 17th. Lee at BC 29 March developed progressively restricted sight the right eye due to altitude, so left expedition 4 April. Fixed rope C4 to couloir: used 500m rope. Hyung-Gyu Cho was the general leader for both S Korean expeditions (W Face and S Face/Lhotse Shar). |
