Route Notes BC at Lhotse Glacier (west side) C1 at South Face C2 at South Face C3 at South Face C4 at South Face. Route was Slovenian route. High point on 15th May at 7555m and stopped because needed 10 more days to top and plan was to descend West Face, but by time had reached top, Khumbu Icefall route ladders would have been removed. As weather got warmer many falling stones down C4 area and below and several members hit but not seriously. Monsoon starting with snowfall; so decided climb finished on 18th May. On 15 May stopped at 7555m because of many falling stones. Another reason for abandoning climbs was members very tired, doing all route making without Sherpas. Route not technically difficult. Last part of route above high point very long and far from last camp and requiring 300m more rope and small traverse of summit ridge where no previous climbers had been. Weh says this route not reasonable route; had planned to go for top of Lhotse Shar also from higher face, but didn't get high enough.
