Route Notes Tortladze slept in C4 with 2 Russians. 14th 4:00 am started to top, carrying 1000m ropes to fix from C4 to top of couloir. Tortladze on top 2:15 and pm in very strong wind; slept in C4, which reached 11:00 pm. 3 Koreans members and 2 Sherpas left C4 for top 12:30 on 15th and on top 7:30 am 16th; and down to C2 some day 5:00-6:00 pm. Noguchi went to South Col 14 May to remove rubbish; Takahata to C2; Yoshimura through Icefall only once and spent rest of his time in BC on expedition's communications. Team collected nearly 3 tons of rubbish from S Col inlcuding 158 empty oxygen cylinders; some rubbish handed over to Sagarmatha Park Pollution Control Committee in Khumbu. Rest goes to Japan and Korea for display. 2 bodies (1 Sherpa and 1 Indian) moved from exposed sites on South Col and buried under rock piles. Oxygen: Tortladze used it sleeping in C5 13 May to top and down to about 8300m where it ran out; 15 May used sleeping in C4, to top and down to C4 by the three Koreans, Dawa Tenzing from C4 to top to C4 but not sleeping. Pemba Dorje none.
