Route Notes C1 at top of Icefall C2 in Western Cwm C3 on West Face. Left C3 at 1:15 am; 1 "Sherpa" stopped 7700m (Tek Bahadur Tamang got frostbite) and on top 3:45 pm Serap Jangbu. Difficult with no snow "in couloir only rock and ice (above 8200m); windy and snow falling. Slept in C3 that night but Oh biv (because tired and slow) at bottom of couloir at 8200m; Park to C3 at 1:30 am; Oh returned to C3 6:00 am with some frostbitten fingers (will heal). Next: K2 end of May and on top end of June or early July. North Pole winter 2001, South Pole winter 2002, new route on SW Face of Everest spring 2002 and in 2002 finish last 3 seven summits. Serap Jangbu (Khumjung) summited Kangchenjunga with Park in spring 1999. Park summited Lhotse in Oct 1997 but come again because "some people" in Korea questioned his ascent since he had no summit pix. Had none because team's man with camera went to top earlier and not on top when Park arrived - now has "very nice pix and video."
Accidents Tek Bahadur frostbitten toes on 29 April; Oh same frosbitten fingers from biv
