| Route Notes | BC at bottom of Icefall C2 in West Cwm C3 on West Face C4 on West Face near rock band. Arrived at C4 on 21 May but summit bid delayed one day helping exhausted Polish woman into her tent at midnight of 21st, then joined Moro and Kazakh teams to go up to rescue Pfisterer's all 4 Lhotse members. Callado and Onate turned back at 8100m because cold at 9:00 am. Strong winds late morning but Cadiach and Zerain to top 12:00 noon; Cadiach returned to C3 at 5:00 pm and slept there, but Zerain arrived at C2 2:30 pm as faster than other climbers. Callado turned back with slightly frostbitten toes. Had planned to go to Lhotse Middle, but after Ama Dablam not enough time and equipment and days of good weather. Wanted to make C5 at 8500m at Col between two Lhotse peaks and from this C5 to go to Lhotse Middle summit. |
