Route Notes Approach: Sundarijal->Tatopani->Kyangchen Gompa BC 16/04 4126m (about 1 hour left of Kyangchen Gompa IC 17/04 4900m C1 21/04 5475m Hpt 22/04 5590m On 17/04 the team and seven porters, cook and kitchen boy ascended to what they thought was C1, but they realised that C1 was higher up than intended. It was a scramble up the face with loose rock. The team set up a camp at 4900m, stayed the night and descended. They went all the way to Kyangchen Gompa, where they stayed for one day. On 20/04 they returned to BC and on 21/04 they ascended all the way to C1. Imagine Nepal had sent three climbing Sherpas to support them, Pemba Nuru Tamang, Nima Sherpa and Pemba Sherpa. They stayed the night at C1. The weather was very snowy with thunderstorms. It took them about 7-½ hours from BC to C1. On 22/04, they intended to set up a C2 at about 5700m, however, the conditions on the mountains were too difficult. Big crevasses and bad weather prevented them from continuing. As they did not have enough material to cross the glacier they decided to abandon the expedition. They descended, cleared the mountain and returned to Kyangchen Gompa. Left BC on 23/04. On the way back, the team climbed Yala Peak and trekked out to Syabru Besi. Oxygen: Not taken, not used
