Route Notes BC same Korean's southeast of Tilman's Col. 14th heavy snow fall and very windy (from northwest). Started up on 16th from BC and made 1st biv on glacier below Tilman's Col at 5400m. Now trouble with Sherpas who had not brought gear to Col - and reached 5600m on 17th and on 18th at Col. On 19th reached their "hidden" mountain itself and began climbing slope which got steeper in due course becoming SW Ridge; made camp at 6200m (by all 3 climbing members) but northwest winds stormed so fiercely that decided to descend to camp at 6200m camp. Whole night and next day storm continued, so abandoned attempt. Northwest winds from Tibet blast Langtang Ri, which is unprotected. Had problems reaching BC over glacier and deposited goods 6 hours before BC. LO died on 18 Oct - was sick and helicopter requested. Tourists actually came in and he ran to the helicopter at Kyanju and collapsed at 3750m. Never was at BC, died of heart attack? Climbers learned of his death on 23 Oct from villagers. Liaison officer's name was Gopal Bahadur KC. French Langtang Lirung's LO was told expedition Langtang Ri's LO had intense stomach and pain in kidney area: Langtang Lirung's Ms Mathiew, 7 Nov 1990.
