Route Notes Hiroshi Aota soloed the N Face of the mountain in April. Aota and Takao Kurosawa made BC (4200m) on April 5 and made ABC (4800m) under the N Ridge within the same day. They tried to acclimatize by climbing on the N Ridge. They bivouacked at 5300m on the 6th and at 5600m on the 7th. Next day on the 8th however, Kurosawa's condition deteriorated and descended to 5600m that night. On the 14th Aota alone set out ABC for the N Face. He reached the W Summit ridge 9 hours and half later and bivouacked in an ice cave that night. Next day he climbed along the knife-edged line and reached the top. He retreated climbing down and rappeling on the N Ridge.
