Route Notes BC at southwest end of Kyashar Glacier C3 on South Ridge. C2 and C3 vertical (80-90 degrees and overhung) rock and ice so very difficult and 1000m fixed rope needed and snow avalanching destroyed same of it. C1 to C2 and C4 to top fairly easy. Tents broken at C1 by avalanches from Thamserku and at BC by strong wind. No fixed rope left for use above C3 despite danger in not having it. Delay making C3 due to extreme delay of baggage from Korea by ship and overland to Kathmandu. Leader and Roh arrived BC 20 Dec with this baggage; other members had taken purchases from KTM to make lower camps and await their arrival via Puma helicopter. Had planned second summit attack, but bad weather (strong wind and snowfall) meant it was called off and expedition ended.
Accidents None
Achievement 1st Korean ascent; new route; 1st winter ascent
