| Route Notes | Miyano - 27 Oct 81 All Ok; Hayashi got altitude sickness but now Ok. BC 13 Oct at 5100m. 1 6 Oct all back down in BC. Iga and Miyano reached 5500m on Kangtega Glacier on 16 Oct. Hayashi became sick same day and he was carried to Tangnag. Expedition finished. No more time and plan was for all members to climb mountain together. Route was to be SE Face (same as Hillary expedition) never reached face. Sharma, Tourism - 22 Oct 81 Abandoned 19 Oct because 1 member sick but now Ok (name not known) Miyano, 1948 = leader While trying for C1, Hayashi got sick and expedition quit. Miyano - 29 Sept 81 Route = SE Face, same as New Zealand. Approach via Tangnag, Din Kharka, up Hinku Nup Glacier to BC near "K" in Hinku Nup Glacier in Shorong Himal Schneider map. BC at 4900m C1 up Kang Taiga Glacier at 5200m C2 6200m near "K" of Kang Taiga Glacier on Schneider map 2 Sherpas above BC Oxygen medically only Leave KTM 3 Oct by air to Lukla Arrive BC 10 Oct, summit 21 Oct Japanese Workers Alpine Federation Takamatsu Kangtega Expedition 1981 2 members in KTM, 2 others arrive 1 Oct. |
