| Route Notes | Temporary BC at foot (second of) Hinku Glacier. From BC went north along west side Hinku Glacier. From BC all 4 members went to Mera Peak and all reached summit with Ang Norbu Sherpa on 1 Nov at 6:00 am and back to BC same day. On 31st all members and Ang Norbu went north from BC along Hinku Glaciers west side and went into Hinku Glacier to 5200m looking for site of "real" BC for Kangtega attempt, but at 5200m, glacier too difficult for porters and beyond into Kangtega Glacier, where intended to go, was the Khumbu Icefall, dry ice, many seracs and crevasses. So abandoned idea of trying to climb Kangtega by SE Face and went back to Lukla and went trekking to Gokyo, etc. after Mera Peak ascent. |
