Route Notes BC at moraine at below [South]West Face C1 up steep moraine to [South]West Face C2 at small ridge leading to main NW Ridge. Very nice mountain. NW "Ridge is beautiful, very thin, very long but has ledges." 1st summit party of Berger, Males and Sherpa on 26 Oct started at 4:00 am and on top at 12:00 noon. Frachon stopped with Negrier, who was suffering from altitude and Frachon had to take him down to C1. Off summit and returned to C2 at 4 pm. Same day De Varax and Masson had also started for top but reached only 6600m, tired and turned back. Very far from C2 to top but not possible to place a C3 on the way to top because ridge very steep and dangerous from avalanche if there is much snow. 28th Oct Frachon from C1 to take Desachy to C2 and to try top, but Desachy very tired and reached only 6100m on 28th and down to C1 alone while Frachon continued up face to bring down fixed ropes, but at top of face went on to summit on 28th (arrived on top 10:30 am) and down to BC at 8:00-9:00 pm same day. Cannot see summit from BC or anywhere below C2.
