Route Notes BC 29/10 5300m (Pumori BC) C1 04/11 5800m HPt 07/11 6660m by Hanna, Halung Dorji and Sangay Phuri. Temba Bhote got hit by a rock on his thigh while fixing their rope at about 6000m on 05/11. He was badly bruised and descended to BC on 06/11. On 06/11, everyone stayed at C1 for a rest. At midnight of 07/11, Hanna and the two Sherpas left C1. The Sherpas were fixing the ropes ahead of Hanna, but the constant rockfall just became too dangerous. They decided to turn back at about 10:10 am. They packed up C1 and descended to BC, where they arrived at 4:30 pm. The conditions were mainly ice and rock. The slope was about 75 degrees. A lot of traversing on the mountain. Generally doable, but rockfall danger just too high. Singh had breathing problems and left on 3/11. He never left BC. Kochanski had a cold and never left BC. Team left BC on 08/11 (walked to Lukla). Fixed rope: 3000m (way to C1 already used quite a lot as scramble up for 600m and then drop down to glacier for 300m; lots of traversing) Oxygen: Not taken not used Sherpas: Temba Bhote Halung Dorji Sangay Phuri Noel Hanna by FB messenger on 11/11/2018: “No summit - a lot of ice and rock fall. On Monday a large rock hit Sherpa on the leg and has to be flown out. Pat and Janusz did not climb. I went for summit on Tuesday night with 2 Sherpas but turned around at 6660m as to much rock and ice falling and 1 of the Sherpas not happy about continuing. There was an American and Swedish person also had a permit, but they only looked at it and turned around because of rock / ice fall. They never even attempted it.”
Accidents Falling rock hit a Sherpa (injured his thigh).
