| Route Notes | BC as same as other teams C3 at Great Shelf High point at 50m above North Col. 16th Oct try for top but retired at 8400m because one member very tired and slightly frostbitten, so all 4 down to C3 and 17th to BC because without oxygen needed BC rest. 25th up from BC to C2 by 3 members (not Matsubara). 26th very strong wind and while Todaka stayed C2 other 2 to BC. 27th Todaka to C3 and try for top on 28th, reached 8300m, down in very cold strong wind and very tired and returned to C1 and 29th BC and 30th left for home. Konishi and Tanahashi 31st up to bring down high camps but had decided on 29th no more summit bids; 2 members to C1 while 2 Sherpas up to C2 and C3 to bring them down. This team saw no traces of 2 missing Frenchmen, Chamoux and Royer. |
