Route Notes BC at normal site High point near top of 2nd Icefall. Big crevasse across 2nd icefall at 6800m that could not go around or across (was 6 to 10m wide and team had no ladders). This was first major crevasse encountered. To right side of crevasse was very steep and difficult rock; to left side danger of big slab avalanches, so climb not possible. Fixed rope entire route from BC to 6800m. 2 Sherpas hit by snow avalanches 18 Sept and fell 10-20m but not hurt.
