Route Notes Lock left C4 at 4 am together with Dujmovits, Garcia, Kaltenbrunner, Gustafsson, Hirotaka. Norbert Joos team left at the same time. Weather was cloudy an it was snowing. When they started it was calm but wind picked up during course of the day. Climb was very strenous. He stayed on summit for a few minutes to take pictures as they had good views. Wind was very strong. He descended in the dark and arrived at C4 at 9:30 pm. His and Garcia's tent was half buried in snow and torn when they arrived at C4. Next morning the wind had eased. He went back to BC, where he arrived at 6 pm. On 18 May he took a helicopter to Lukla. The helicopter first went to BC to pick up Norbert Joos and 2 of his members as Joos had suffered a minor stroke. He was taken to Ramche. When he arrived there he felt better. So Lock, Kaltenbrunner, Dujmovits, Gustafsson and Hirotaki flew to Lukla. Helicopter refuelled there, dropped off Kaltenbrunner, Dujmovits and Hirotaki at Everest BC and returned to Kathmandu with Lock and Gustafsson.
