| Route Notes | BC at Pangpema C1 at beginning of small plateau C2 at 2nd plateau C3 on NW Ridge. At 6300m while fixing ice face on 18 April huge fall of ice serac fell on another serac to which head of fixed supply of ice axes, rope, helmets, etc. and turned supply sack over, burying supplies. One member had to go to Jannu BC and borrow from that expedition 1 axe and 2 pair crampons (site of this serac falls is marked). At C3 left gear for C4 at 7900m and back to BC at 9 May for rest. Stayed in BC till 19 May because of very strong wind. 20 May up to C1, started snowing and stayed there; 22nd to C2. 23rd weather report predicted heavy snowfall so down to BC and decided to quit climbing. Prediction was long term strong wind. All 6 members always climbed together. |
