| Route Notes | BC at Chaudhabisi Khola (way west of mountain, Swiss BC site). Heavy snowfall 15-17 April so stuck at C3 and kerosene stove failed so started using gas. After storm saw Swiss NW Ridge was avalanching powder snow so decided to go to unexplored NE Ridge and made C4 on glacier. Kennard now exhausted and Adams went into ridge and back to C4. No fuel left. Local people give name Sisne Himal to range of much lower mountains west of Chaudhabise Khola. Expedition's permit was for Kande Hiunchuli via North Ridge (there are two north summits close together shown as Sisne North and South on Swiss map). 6 March 85 - Swiss 1980 leader Meier agrees his team scaled Kangde Hiunchuli North II and were not on Sisne, which is west of Chaudhabise Khola. Very long route - once run out of gear or supplies, too far to BC to get more and return to mountain. |
