Route Notes BC at 4600m Khumbukarna Glacier due north of Sobithongie Peak C1 at 5400m top of first pillar, 1000m-high pillar C2 at 6600m top of "little farmfield" above a rib a mixed rock and ice High point at left side of a rib. Entire route quite steep 55-80 degrees; 80 degrees on pillar below 6600m and below rib above the pillar; 200m if this 80-degree section of mixed rock and ice. Fixed nearly 2000m of rope on almost entire route from 4800m to 7200m. Lot of wind. Stopped attempt at 7200m because too small team on such very hard ice, very dangerous from rockfall and ice falling and needed to be careful constantly that rope had not been broken: don't go without helmets there [this team wore them]. 13 May were waiting to go up from 7200m to go up at night but windstorm came up and decided safer to go down. Down to C1 that night instead and climb finished. Left BC about 15 May (estimate).
