Route Notes BC at Yamatori Glacier's Dudh Pokhari; SSW of mountain ABC at Providence Glacier - slept in one night only Dep II at Providence Spur North C1 at Providence Glacier Providence Glacier "terrible" with icefall and rubble. To avoid icefall, climbers left this Glacier onto Providence Spur North and then returned to Glacier to place C1. From C1 attempts to get to C2 site at 6400m near Tete du Butoir but never higher than 6200m. 1st attempt on 20 Nov by Sanchez, Morales, Salazar and Fernandez-Vivancos reached 6000m at Col des Jennes fixing rope and down to C1. 2nd attempt by on 21 Nov by same four members continued fixing ropes above Col on the S ridge of Tete du Butoir (Buffer Peak) to 6100m and back to C1: powdered snow was very difficult making progress very slow. 3rd attempt 22 Nov by Salazar, Carvajal, Vazquez; reached 6200m continuing to fix ropes on same ridge with same powdered snow and again tried to fix ropes, but very dangerous because all ropes not really securely fixed, so down to C1. Rested and 2 Sherpas arrived at C1 on 22nd and the 24th Sherpas Lhakpa Dorje and Dawa and Salazar and Gonzalez arrived at 6200m and down to C1; had checked fact that really not possible to go higher and climb finished. Fixed 200m ropes in couloir from Providence Glacier to Spur, 30m to Col and 150m to C1 in different places including down into 10m deep crevasses and up out of it. 400m from C1 to 6200m, 200m to col and 300 more to high point. Gonzalez cut his right thigh by crampon cutting it during descent from C1 in crevasses and on Tso Kang South broke same leg's small bone in foot while going from Tso Kang South to see possibility of climbing Nyukla Lachum. But not climbing after Gonzalez's accident in very unstable rocky area (one rock fell on his foot). Tso Kang South (1st ascent) Tso Kang South was climbed on Nov 30 by all 7 members plus Lhakpa Dorje Sherpa, Dawa Sherpa and Sawan Sherpa. From C1 crossed Providence Spur Central into Providence Glacier South and up NE Face in route not difficult and "enjoyable." Slope 60 degrees; needed 150m rope above C2 near summit.
