Route Notes From Mans Sjogren Facebook page: September 25, 2025 SUMMIT OF HIMLUNG HIMAL 7126M This has definitely been one of the most mentally and physically challenging things we've ever done. We're first team to summit the mountain this season, meaning we were the only 2 people on the entire route. We climbed it completely selfsustained, hauling all our gear, setting up camps etc ourselves. From the bottom of the route at 6100m up to the summit at 7126m we had to trailblaze in ankle to sometimes knee deep snow the entire way. At points we were close to giving up due to the physical & mental strain, but we kept pushing. In total it took us 12 hours from our tent to the summit, 15 hours roundtrip. Alot longer than expected, but eventually we made it there. It felt surreal to ski at 7000 meters above sea level, sadly we had absolute shit fuck snow conditions, out of almost 1000m of skiing barely 50m were somewhat decent, the rest consisted of a 1.5-2.5 cm sun & wind crust. It's kinda hilarious that we came to the mountain this early in the season in the hopes of getting good snow. But that's life! It was still an absolutely awesome experience! Due to bad weather our acclimatization schedule got completely screwed, we only managed to sleep 3 nights at 5500m, as well as haul some gear up to 5850m before going for the summit push. After a full week of waiting in basecamp we finally had our weather window. It was now or never. We reached camp 1 with the hopes of going to camp 2 or even 2.5 the day after. When we reached our gear stash at 5850m heavy snow started falling and we had no choice but to quickly set up our tent and wait it out until the day after. The heavy snow meant that the glacier crossing up to camp 2 was also more difficult. Negotiating crevasses with 30+ KG backpacks at 6000m was definitely an experience in itself. In order to conserve energy for the summit we went no further than C2. The day after we went 2 hours over the glacier to set up camp 2.5, moving our tent and all the gear with us, to get ready for the final stage of the summit push. It's quite the unconventional approach to climbing a mountain like this, but with the cards we were dealt we did what we could, and it worked.
