Route Notes From Lina Quesada Castro Facebook page: 15 days trying to conquer the elusive Himlung Himal summit of 7126m. Reached base camp on 23rd April, with full enthusiasm, after 2 years of not being able to step foot in the Himalayas. On the 25th of April I was already sleeping in the field1 at 5450m and since April 26 the snow hasn't given us a day's break. There were 4 members of the expedition (one Austrian, 2 sherpas and me). On April 29th we returned to C1 and on the 30th we rode C2 at 6100m. for which we have to go through a glacier full of cracks, some of more than 1 meter and we opened footprints with snow up to the knee, but that same night it continued to snow and in the morning again to open footprints. We left at C2 all summit clothing, feather jumpsuits, gloves, etc. After several days of waiting we went back up on May 5, with optimism and hope, this time we advance to 6450m of the C3. But again the snow broke our plans and after 2 nights of snow and facing the danger of avalanches, we decided, load all the material and go down to the base field, again drawing cracks, opening footprint and disappointed. The Himlung Himal has eluded us, probably autumn is the best time to get it up. I am happy at least because I have tested my physical conditions as after having Covid I had great fears. Will keep training with positivity and energy for my next challenge, K2.
