Route Notes After the Himalayan Ecstasy Lhotse Expedition was cancelled due to the Everest Icefall accident, 5 members of that team took out a permit for Himlung Himal. On their approach march to Himlung, Byrne and Cosgriff decided to attempt another peak and left the team. The remaining three went on to Himlung and climbed as far as C2 at 6000m. Horodyskyj became ill at C2 and was accompanied back to base camp by St. Pierre. John All stayed alone at C3 to wait for his teammates to return and to conduct some research projects. While gathering snow to melt for his morning coffee, All fell 70 feet into a crevasse. He eventually self-rescued himself, radioed for help, and was evacuated by helicoptor to Kathmandu.
