Route Notes BC west-northwest of route C1 on glacier west-northwest of mountain C2 on glacier C3 on NW Ridge. The expedition mounted two summit attempts, but only the second one was successful. In the first one were Angelika and Klaus Baehr, Bohs, Haupt, Wehrle and Lila Bahadur Tamang. They left C3 for the summit at 7:00 am on 26 October, but there was strong wind and it was very cold. They all turned around at 7055m at 1:00 pm and were back in C3 at 5:00 pm. The second group consisted of Block, Klaus and Baerbel Greiner, Satvary, Axel and Britta Vorberg and Jamba Sherpa. They also left C3 for the summit at 7:00 am on 30 October; only two members and their Sherpa got to the top. Satvary stopped at 6400m because the climb had become too difficult for him. Axel and Britta Vorberg stopped at 6500m at 1:00 pm because they thought it was now too late to continue up. They returned to C3 a little after 3:00 pm. Baerbel Greiner turned back at about 7000m when her fingers were getting dangerously cold; she had fallen into a crevasse at 6400m, and this probably made her uneasy about the climb. She was back in C3 at 6:00 pm. Only Block, Klaus Greiner and Jamba went on to the summit and arrived there at about 2:00 pm. All members of the second party spent the night of the 30th in C3 and everyone was back in BC on the 31st.
