Route Notes C2 on West Ridge C3 on West Ridge. Dutch on Himlung, led by Alexander Bijlsma - 29 October 2008 The team spent three nights in C3: the night before they went to the summit and two nights afterwards when strong winds kept them confined to camp. During the third night, 17 October, the wind damaged one tent, and the next morning when they were trying to pack it up, it was blown away. Their summit bid was made by both members and Dawa Sherpa. They left C3 at 2:30 am on the 16th. Mahuys stopped at 6800m because she was sliding downhill and she feared she might have a serious accident. Bijlsma and Dawa got to the top at 2:30 pm and were back in C3 at 8:00 pm. In their descent on the 18th, they found that C2 had been completely damaged by the wind, so they were forced to go all the way down to C1. They were in BC on the 19th.
