| Route Notes | BC at Nojumba Glacier ABC at east of glacier, at bottom of ice wall C1 at SW Ridge above wall C2 at SW Ridge C3 at snow plateau of ridge Changed route from NE Ridge as intended because Nojumba Glacier very bad crevasses. From ABC ice wall to 600m of 50-60 degree steepness. Above ice wall 150m rock. C1 on SW Ridge. C1 to C2 knife ridge and some technical difficulty C2 to C3. C3 on snow plateau of ridge. Next was rock face with snow ridge on left side but deep soft snow on this ridge which snowbar was useless, so abandoned climb. 11th Oct slept in C3 members and C2 "Sherpas". 12th Oct ABC. If went again to Hungchi would follow on same route - had no avalanches. Wants to come again in autumn. |
