| Route Notes | BC 11/05 4550 below Kang La ABC 13/05 on top of Kang La 5350m HPt 14/05 5650m by all Fotheringham, Freeman-Attwood, Hughes and Colton. After having trekked to BC for 10 days from Simikot, they arrived at their BC with 16 mules. BC was on the grass. They set up their ABC on top of the Kang La, from where they had two 6000m peaks to each side (east and west). They tried the peak to the east, but the weather was too bad for them to continue. The climbing itself was not so difficult. About 50 degrees snow and ice. On 14 May they descended back to their BC, where they stayed for a couple of days to relax. On 16 May they returned to ABC, but the was still too much snow on the hill and they decided to abandon the expedition and leave ABC. According to Freeman-Attwood there are about 45 unclimbed 6000m peaks in the area. |
