Route Notes Franz Huber - 17 Oct 83 Huber's route on Gaurishankar in 1981 spring was SW Face = American route, not SE Ridge. Franz Huber - 24 April 81 Franz Huber arrived KTM today; others leave BC today or tomorrow and he rejoins them; leave 26 April and return with all members 30 April or 1 May. 6 pm to 5 am, very strong [wind] 19/20 night. All in BC; his half of BC's 8 tents destroyed including kitchen tent. C1 2 tents of 4 and in C2 both tents destroyed and equipment lost, so expedition finished. Fixed rope to 5800m; site for C3 at 6000m. 4 members to 5800m: Stramberger, Mueller, Franz Huber and Ewald Huber on 17 April, then 2 days snowing and then windy. Huber and son - 24 March 81 1st Austrian Gaurishankar Expedition Route = SW Ridge (permit) See what snow conditions are, maybe change to West Ridge 2 Sherpas above BC BC at Read and Boardman site 4900m 3 camps above BC, maybe a 2nd BC also Leave KTM 25 March Arrive BC after 10-11 days Summit early May: 4-5 weeks climbing Oxygen medical only
