| Route Notes | Approach: Fly to Pokhara, vehicle to Gandruk, south, trek in pass Machh BC normal path to Machhapuchhare BC, head north up the east fork to the Annapurna Gglacier (following the S Korean team of 2016). From basecamp to C1 was the most dangerous part of the climb. Rockfall was a considerable danger by any standards. C1 to C2 was not quite as dangerous, but still bare and with considerable rockfall. I was hit by rock on 4 occasions over the course of the climb. One could have been severe. Weather was clear and calm for the duration. Snow conditions on the upper moutain (snow line beginning at C2) were stable with significant freezeing/thawing. Rope-fixing: 4 sections, each about 200m in length 4200m to 4400m at entrance gully from the moraine; 3 x 200m sections between C1 and C2. |
