Route Notes BC east of Tent Peak and another ridge east of Tent C1 at lateral moraine on edge of East Annapurna Glacier C2 beneath large rock below snow slopes under Annapurna III below col between Annapurna III and Gangapurna C3 on top of large rock High point at C3. Decided to go for East Ridge from col between Gangapurna and Annapurna III instead of attempting S Face because route across glacier too long, involved and difficult for attempt in poor weather conditions with poor visibility. Nine days between making C2 and C3: 3 days fixing rope after time spent finding route in bad visibility (mist). 28th April put tent and left loads at C3 but did not occupy it until 1st May in electrical storm which continued for 3 days. Stayed 2 nights, no sign of weather improving and avalanche danger threatened (40-50 cm new snow per day) so decided to abandon climb. Had planned to climb above C3 in alpine-style without fixed ropes.
