| Route Notes | BC at East Annapurna Glacier, west of Annapurna II's SW Ridge C1 above Glacier C2 on rock (below East Ridge) C3 at top of icefall (still below ridge) C4 just above col between Gangapurna and Annapura III (where route joined East Ridge). Same route and campsites as that of Poles in autumn 1985; others to East Ridge very nearly same route with camps at different altitudes. Between C1 and C2 broken seracs and crevasses made difficulties. Summit ridge: rock one side, snow other side: long way and needed fixed rope, which installed on rock side (S side). C3 to C4 difficult blue ice. Total 2000m fixed rope. Tricky finding route from C1 to C2. |
