| Route Notes | Note: This mountain previously known as Ganesh III till re-surveyed in early 1990's. BC at Tanagampa Glacier C1 at NE Face High point at 2 different spots on northeast side. From C1 attempted 2 routes on NE Face: 1) west from C1 NE Face and reached 5200m on 6th Oct and down to BC having left equipment then, very difficult above. 7 Oct saw avalanche sweep across route, fixed rope and equipment swept away; above was many crevasses: had planned to place C2 at 5300m. The 5200m point reached by Jakarta, Panima Lama Sherpa and Phurwa Sherpa. Up again from C1 on 13 Oct via different line on this face, headed south from C1 and there snow very deep and time running out so turned back. This line possible (probably same line as '81 aut Japanese when the mountain was called Ganesh III). They now had lost equipment and no time left. Needed more members for this climb. 13th: Sakanoto and Takahata only - 5100m and back to C1 16th: Sakanoto and Takahata only - 5200m and now snow deep and no time 17th: Tada & Panima and Phurwa Sherpa to 5200m to retrieve equipment. |
