| Route Notes | BC at glacier at bottom of face C1 on East Face (ice and rock mixed area) C2 on East Face (deep snow area) C3 at South Col. 27 May C3 occupied by 7 members. 4 Sherpas carried loads to C3 but returned to C1 because C2's 4 tents swept away or buried by ice avalanche on morning of 27th after it was emptied by climbers going up to Col. If had left later, 11 people would have died. 3 left C3 for top on 28 May at 12:30-12:45 am and reached top at 7:00 am NST: Amar Prakash, Kusang Dorje and Sange. Other 4 at C3 did not leave camp because 3 oxygen masks were not working. Summiters returned to C3 10:30 am and all left C3 11:30 am and went all way to C1 taking 3 hours to cross area above C2 which normally took 15-20 minutes. Returned to C1 at 8:30 pm (dark but had head lamps). All 7 members could have reached summit if had been able to use oxygen, but of 7 masks, 3 didn't work and 1 kept at Col for emergency. Kusang Dorje and Sange are 1st people to reach summit from North, South and East. Yadav and Dhami are 1st women to reach S Col from East Face. |
