Route Notes C2 made this ABC C3 bad weather C4 bad weather. Did not climb Messner route as planned because it was too windy. At 7800m crossed to Messner route and traversed 3000m and turned back to C3. Then climbed North Ridge. On May 7 (2 Koreans and 2 Tamangs) started from C5 and reached 8700-8800m. 2 felt very tired (Mingmar Tamang & Lee Hong-Kil) and came down and at 8500m Mingmar Tamang slipped. He was using an old rope (there are around 6-7 fixed ropes) which snapped. He fell from below 2nd Step (body not found). His oxygen bottle exploded and Russians saw the body falling (Lee Hong-Kil returned to C5). The two summiters continued. Lee Hong-Kil was behind and above he saw Mingmar fall down waited for half an hour. Mingmar fell down about 2500m. At base camp made makeshift Stupa and wrote his name, dates of birth and death. If there had been no accident had planned to make 3 attempts to summit. Altitudes reached C4 - Mingmar Sherpa, Arjun Tamang C5 - Pasang Tamang * Lee Hong-Kil and Lee In tried Messner route for 300m on 10 or 11 April then joined normal route.
Accidents Mingma Tamang slipped at 8500m and fell 2500m body not found
