Route Notes Slept in C1 at North Col C2 on North Ridge. Were delayed in making summit bid by having to go to the rescue of Andres Delgado, Mexican climbing with Peter Kowalzik, but on same commercial permit. Lost a period of good weather and were tired by this effort; finished rescue work on 14th May. On 17th May Benet climbed from C2 for 2 hours, reached about 7900m (Chinese time) turned back. On 18th Verzaroli and Sala left C2 at 6:30 am, reached 8000m at 10:00 am and also turned back: were still tired from rescue effort, going slowly, were not using oxygen and winds were strong; there was no tent for them at 8200m to get into. Yaks were ordered for 21st at ABC for departure. Those most involved in rescue were Galbiati, Verzaroli and Sala.
Accidents None on mountain except Bassoli never got above 6000m because not acclimatizing
